25. November 2023.The Center for Women’s Studies in partnership with the Association for Culture and Art – CRVENA from Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) conducted the research project “Taking back the time: a research-based campaign for equitable housework habits among Millenials & Zoomers”. As a part of the large-scale research project, the CWS and CRVENA research teams organized a series of focus groups, and the collected experiences shared by Millennials and Zoomers were translated into a series of comic episodes. The comics were illustrated by Danica Jevđović, based on the shared experiences in focus groups, and written by Lejla Kalamujić.
The subject of the research “Taking back the time” is the position and experiences of young women in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Main research goal was to investigate in which ways the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the redistribution, quality and quantity of unpaid housework performed by women aged 19 to 34, in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Along with the mentioned comic episodes, the final results of the research, as well as a comparative analysis, are publicly available as part of a campaign aimed at raising social awareness of this problem.
The project was realized with the support from the Balkan Fund for Democracy of the German Marshall Fund of the USA (BTD) and the support of the USAID.
